<< Question #SK070 - Eczema & Asthma
I have had eczema and asthma, well from when I
was born I guess. Eczema has stopped me from doing so many things as a kid and now being
28, I've just gotten used to it. I've been to the doctors so many times I've lost count,
tried all of the creams, (I mean all!) and nothing has worked. Now I just believe it's
down to my sub conscious, and the fact that I itch in my sleep! Any new ideas would be
much appreciated, thanks. - Richard, Suffolk

& Asthma
Have you consulted a doctor specializing in
immunology & allergy? Sounds like you were born with sensitivites. Has anyone ever
tried to figure out exactly what they are? Avoidance of offending substances can
go a long way in alleviating symptoms. - Ed

Question #SK071 - Eczema
About 5 or 6 years ago I developed a small red
rash about the size of a half dollar on the back of my neck. I remember the first time I
noticed an itchy feeling was when I went to the hair salon for a trim and the girl took a
comb out of the place where she stored them in-between uses (which I assume was filled
with that solution salons use to clean the combs or whatever). Anyway, when she began to
comb my hair with it, some of the solution dripped down the back of my neck and was
itching like crazy for a minute of two. After that, I had a small red rash that itched a
bit and of course as I kept scratching it, it has spread to cover a good deal of the back
of my neck and even up into my scalp just a bit. It dries out severely and I believe it
can also become oozy if I do not keep it moisturized everyday. It flakes like dandruff,
too. No doubt about it, it is getting worse.. not better. My medical doctor said it is
excema. What do you think? I am finally going to see a dermotologist very soon, but i am
not into medications. Can it be something else besides excema? I have had it for a very
long time now.... about 5 or 6 years. - Lovern, Atco

Scalp - Hairline
Hi! I had really bad eczema as a child and was very
dependent on the steroid creams to keep it under wraps and growing into adulthood, I have
had flare ups on various part of my body and then never again. Now it seems to be in my
hairline and I don't know how to get rid of it. My head is always itchy and the hair in
that particular spot is very brittle. Is there anything I can take or have the doctor
prescribe to make it go away? Thanks - GK, Toronto

White Patches
My daughter has had eczema since birth. She is
now almost 3 and it seems to have gotten worse. We have been to an allergist and have had
her blood tested. She is allgeric to PEANUTS AND SOY! So we eat no foods that contain soy.
This doesn't help-- has to be something else, so still dealing. Because of all this she
has lost pigment on her arms and legs, little white patches. Any suggestions on how to get
the pigment back? The doc and derm said over time. And what other suggestions on creams?
Using protopic, elidel triamcinolone, mimyx, protopic hydrocortzone creams, the
prednisolone which works but can't stay on. Any info I am sure will help... Thanks -
Nicole, Port Saint Lucie

Eczema - White Patches
The doctors & dermatologists are right. In
time, the color will come back to the skin IF you are not using any type
of creams that contain cortisone. As far as topical applications...looks like you are
using or have tried them all. You do need to figure out what other things your child is
allergic to, and not just food. Most likely there are others such as chemicals, laundry
detergents, fragrances, etc. Read through the forum to see what other topical applications
are recommended. Especially the natural ones such as Emu Oil, etc. You've got a long road
ahead of you, but with a real effort, it must might pay off. - Ed

Vaginal Eczema & Yeast
I have been diagnosed with vaginal eczema but
do not have it anywhere else on my body. I have found some great advice on this site which
I plan to try, but does anyone have advice for vaginal ezcema specifically? Because of it
I tend to get a lot of bacterial and yeast infections. - Melissa, SLC

Eczema - Vaginal Eczema & Yeast
Vinegar & Yogurt Douches: It is very
important to keep your tissues pH balanced. In the morning use 2 teaspoons cider vinegar
mixed in 1 cup warm water. In case of yeast infection, also in the evening use 1
tablespoon plain, live yogurt mixed in 1 cup warm water. "Mountain High. Original,
Plain" is a good brand. Also use the vinegar douche after relations (unless, of
course, you are trying to get pregnant!) - Ed

This is not a new question. Please read
through the forum for suggestions, and try those that feel right to you. Try the Head & Shoulders treatment. Try the Clorox baths treatment. Try an elimination diet,
eliminating first those items that seem to be the favorites, and are eaten more often than
others. Read up on Kinesiology & muscle testing to help discover any items that may be
allergenic. Read this article: Permanent allergy relief in just 24-hours? especially below the

Protecting the Hands
I am 23 and I'm in Cosmotology school trying
to get my license to become a hairstylist. I have had eczema flare-ups on my hands for as
long as can remember. But it has never given too much trouble and i've been able to keep
it under control. When I started school my flare-ups worsened and happened more
frequently. I know it is because of the chemicals and working with gels and all the
moisture that I am around while at school. I also know it will only worsen once I am doing
hair as a profession. Does anyone know of a special glove that won't make my hands sweat
or a special cream that will make my hands resistant to water? My doctor just tells me to
change professions before I get my license, but I can't give up that easily. -

Try a Silicone-Based Barrier-Type Hand Cream
such as Avon's Silicone Glove hand cream. The one I used was for industrial use, and was
called Invisible Glove. This is the one you probably need. Invisible Glove Hand Creams I've also seen "polymer"
lotions mentioned as an alternative to silicone lotions. - Ed

After Waxing
Eczema develops on my skin of arms and legs
after waxing. It develops after two to three days of waxing and disappears in a
month. Please tell me any solution.I will be very thankful. - Asma, Lahore
>> Answer #SK080 - Eczema
- After Waxing
Try this: Cleanse your legs with cider vinegar
after waxing (don't wash it off), then rub olive oil into the skin for the next 3 days. If
that doesn't work then try this...cleanse your legs with the cider vinegar and then do
wash it off. Then do this...and don't freak out...rub fresh urine (your own, of course)
into the skin twice a day for 3 days. Urine is excellent for the skin.
